This lovely serving bowl could be put to use for a fruit bowl or snacks bowl etc. Inspired by the meandering, twisting shoots of the climbing clematis always catch my attention as they strive for their next crevice to hold onto. It was this lovely plant that inspired the design for this bowl. A highly decorative bowl with a lot going on in design and colour, just as in a clematis plant. The many layers of glass are used to capture the many layers and density of the clematis that grows just outside my window. I decorate each surface of the glass and sometimes conflicting things are happening as one layer goes over another. This, to me, is how the medium of glass can so reflect the natural world. A place where I can express the different things happening at the same time, sometimes visible, sometimes not.

I hope you enjoy using or displaying this clematis fruit or serving bowl as much as I enjoyed making it. Although I have made a few of these now, no two are ever the same, so forgive me if your bowl is a little different to the images.

The Clematis bowl is 123cm square and 5 cm deep. It is made from two layers of 3mm glass decorated with glass frit and paint.
