Here at Glass-House Studio we make more coasters than anything else. Small 10cm squares of fused glass can look great as drinks coasters or as fantastic handmade tiles with so many uses.

Fused glass is actually quite tough as the two layers of the coaster are fired together at over 800 degrees centigrade giving a robust coaster that is wipeable and heat resistant. There is no limit to the designs you can add to your glass, some of the most simple designs really are the best.

The design is created when the glass is fused together with a second layer of glass trapping the powders and paint in the middle. Once fused, we just pop some little rubber feet on the bottom and hey presto! Lovely coasters. If you would like to have a go at making your own coasters see the workshop schedule for this year.
